The Thai Ambassador to the UAE

HE Mohammed Rashed Al-Hameli, ADCCI Director-General, and HE Somchai Charanasomboon, the Thai Ambassador to the UAE, explored ways of streamlining ties of economic co-operation and of increasing joint investments amongst businessmen and companies in both the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Thailand.

Discussions also covered a visit to Thailand by an Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ADCCI) delegation for purposes of supporting the turnover of the two-way trade and enhancing joint industrial investments.

Mr. Al-Hameli stressed the importance of setting up joint investment ventures between businesspeople and companies in both Abu Dhabi and Thailand, of utilizing industrial expertise acquired by Thai companies, as well as of facilities being provided by Abu Dhabi’s competent entities to foreign investors and businesses willing to operate and invest in the emirate.

Trade and economic relations connecting Abu Dhabi and Thailand are growing deep-rooted and fast-moving year after year. This has markedly reflected upon Abu Dhabi-Thailand trade exchanges as the volume of terms of trade went up to AED1.72bn (one billion and seventy-two million dirhams) late in 2008 compared with AED862mn in 2007, Mr. Al-Hameli said, noting that expanding and strengthening the positive progress in business links would invite both parties to keep exchanging business delegations and to take part in general and specialist exhibitions being held in Abu Dhabi and Thailand.

The chamber is well prepared to back up Thai companies desirous of operating and making industrial investment in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in a manner that would reinforce cooperation between companies and businesses in both countries, he stated.
